How Do I Filter and Analyze Pulse Results by Team?

Learn how WorkStory administrators filter employee Pulse survey analytics by team, interpret results, troubleshoot team data, and archive surveys.

In this article

WorkStory administrators can filter employee Pulse survey analytics and individual survey results by team. The default view includes all available teams; selecting one team narrows the displayed responses and trends to that group without changing access permissions or the underlying survey data.

Where the team filter is available

  • Pulse Analytics, where aggregate survey patterns and participation information are displayed.
  • Pulse Results, where administrators review the results available for a specific Pulse survey.

Filter Pulse results to one team

  1. Open Pulse in WorkStory.
  2. Select the Pulse survey you want to analyze.
  3. Open Analytics or Results.
  4. Open the Team filter.
  5. Select the team you want to review.
  6. Review the filtered information.

To return to the organization-wide view, clear the team selection or select the all-teams option.

What does the team filter change?

The filter changes the responses included in the current view. It does not edit answers, change the survey audience, or create a separate survey.

  • All teams: Shows the default organization-wide view.
  • Selected team: Shows only responses associated with that team.

The available teams come from your WorkStory organization structure. If a team is missing or employees appear under the wrong team, verify the reporting structure before interpreting results.

How administrators can use team-level results

  • Compare team sentiment with the organization-wide result.
  • Identify teams that may need follow-up.
  • Separate a localized concern from an organization-wide pattern.
  • Prepare a more relevant conversation for a manager.
  • Track whether an action plan improves results over time.

Interpret team results carefully

Smaller groups can produce less stable results. Consider response volume and participation before drawing conclusions.

  • A large percentage change based on a few responses may not represent the full team.
  • A low participation rate may be as important as the average answer.
  • Consider a Pulse result alongside earlier surveys and other employee feedback.
  • Avoid sharing a breakdown that could make an individual response identifiable.

Team filtering does not change permissions

The filter only narrows information the logged-in administrator is already allowed to view. It does not grant managers or employees additional access.

Archive or delete a Pulse survey

  1. Find the survey on the main Pulse page.
  2. Open the three-dot menu.
  3. Select Archive to move it out of active work, or Delete when it should be permanently removed.
  4. Review the confirmation before completing the action.

Use Archive when the survey may still be relevant for historical context. Use Delete only when it is no longer needed. If uncertain, archive it rather than delete it.

Troubleshooting

I do not see the team I expected

Check the organization chart and reporting relationships.

The team result looks different from the organization result

This is expected. Check participation and response count before comparing percentages or averages.

I cannot see Analytics or Results

Confirm your administrative access and that the survey has results available.
